I believe in using our passions to create a life we love, and sharing our gifts to create connections! It is an honor every day, that I get to show up, regardless of whether it is for others or myself! I have had a passion for cosmetology, fitness and nutrition, and also music for as far back as I can remember! I just loved playing with hair and makeup, even in grade school! As a young adult, I always had a gym membership, and became a dedicated runner. Rain or shine, snow or ice, I was out the door, by 5:45 am, six days a week!! I loved teaching anyone who would listen to me, regarding what I had learned about diet and exercise!

It wasn’t until my mid-thirties when life through me a curveball, that I knew how important all that exercise experience and knowledge was! One morning while driving to cosmetology school I was struck by a tractor trailer! Thankfully, my injuries weren’t life threatening, but injuries none the less!

While consulting with a specialist on my options for recovery, I was advised to give up running, and not to further pursue a cosmetology career. I only had two months to complete my requirements and take the boards! It was a very frightening and lonely time for me, as I felt isolated in my recovery. The good advice though, was to take up Yoga, which would help to strengthen my core, and push off inevitable surgery until my “later years".

A friend gifted me a membership to our local yoga studio, and I was hooked! Aside from taking care of my body, I was also taking care of all the other layers! I felt incredible after every class! Not only stronger and more flexible, but I felt nurtured, rested, grounded and clear! I knew this was something I needed to delve into!

Fast forwarding…not to say my doctor was wrong, but giving up cosmetology and running wasn't something I was ready to accept! I returned to cosmetology school, and even started running again. There were days that I thought my doctor was right... but, I was stubborn!! I worked as a hairstylist for two years and bought the salon I was working at in 2008. Not long after, I decided to take an instructor workshop in Zumba, since I love dancing! I then went on to become  a Certified Group Fitness Instructor through AFAA & taught both modalities at the same yoga studio where I started.

A few years later when that gym closed, I knew that I needed to continue teaching, for me and for my students! That's when I opened the fitness studio, by moving and expanding my existing business, Scissorgy Day Spa.

Since then, I’ve become a YogaFit Instructor and a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM! I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to do the work that I do! I absolutely love going to work, whether in the salon or the fitness studio! Working with students of all levels, I meet everyone where they are. I believe in educating my students to raise awareness on alignment and the mind-body connection, so they can make the most of their time invested. I believe in keeping our workouts safe and effective, as well as our yoga practice gentle, yet deliberate. I can honestly say that because of my injuries, I learned more about training with and recovering from injuries. Even with limitations, we can find our way back!

When I’m not in the studio or salon , I’m most likely walking or hiking with my husband and our two rescue pups (while our rescue kitty waits at home), or enjoying time with our kids and grand babies! I also enjoy spending time with friends, dining out, music, and also singing with my band, “ Another Story”!
